The project Melmann - DM composed of Argentine Nicolas Melmann and Lucas De Marziani , music and image respectively, is a dialogue between the present and the past, where technology and the primitive coexist in the same space, where the digital and the analogue converge to create a single language, and where image, music and text are thought of as a single composition.
Melmann using software (Live, Reason), hardware (Drum machine, Kaoss pad synth, loop station) and acoustic instruments (Ukulele, Melodica, Harp, Hang drum) is playing, live processing and combining these different materials, acoustic, digital and analog, creating different soundscapes. Between melody and noise, their music goes minimalist and contemplative, using digital emulations of medieval instruments, Harmonium, Dulcimer, software synths, combined with hardware electronics and acoustic instruments processed in real time, generate this organic and electronic atmospheres.
DM create Live visual compositions, using software and programming tools (VDMX, Quartz Composer), feeding real-time frequency analysis of audio and MIDI events from Melmann´s music, but always giving place to chance, uncertainty and chaos.
In DM´s visuals , as in Melmann´s music, persists this component that goes between the digital and the analog, between the present and the past, combining generative compositions created through programming and images, and archive footage obtained from analog video.
The result : an audiovisual trip, a sensory expedition through natural and abstract landscapes, sound paintings, digitally painted live, a hybrid between new technologies and the most primitive forms of art.
